Over the last month and a half I’ve lost over 15lbs, that’s huge for me, I’ve been walking every day and eating healthier. One of my biggest things was eating out, I used to eat out a lot, maybe 4 or 5 times per week and that wasn’t doing my health or weight any good, so, one of the first lifestyle changes I made was to cook more at home. I read an article a while ago that most restaurants have a huge amount of sodium in their foods, way past your daily limit and even though the calorie count may not be much, it’s still not good for you. Since i’ve been making more of my own meals, I know what I’m putting into my body and I can control what goes into the food I am eating, I feel better for it already.
Due to having high cholestrol mainly caused by my diet, I’ve been trying to eat meals with less cholesterol, low carbs and high fiber. I’ve been implementing beans into almost every meal for a good source of dietary fiber and now that the weather is cooling down I’ve been making quick and easy meals that my whole family love.
This Garbanzo Bean recipe is extremely easy and only uses a few ingredients, if you have a vegetarian at home or want a healthier way to snack, these Garbanzo Bean bites will fill you up without comprising taste or texture, they are crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle!
This recipe serves around 3 people, you will need one can of S&W Garbanzo Beans, 1 large onion, 3Tbs Minced Garlic (Or fresh if you prefer), 2 Cups of breadcrumbs, Cilantro, 2 eggs, Salt and Pepper.
You will need to open your tin of S&W Garbanzo Beans and drain out the liquid, cut up your onion and add those to a blender. Next add your garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, Cilantro, salt and pepper to the blender. Chop up some cilantro and throw that in the blender mix. Use the slowest setting in your blender to turn mix all of your ingredients together.
Once everything is mixed together, pour the mixture into a large dish, cover and refrigerate for 3 to 6 hours. When your mixture feels nice and chilled, ready to go, preheat your oven to 375 degrees and remove your mixture from the fridge. Grab a handful of the mixture and roll it into a ball, do this for the rest of the mixture until you have about 12 little meatball sized Garbanzo bean balls. Spray your baking sheet with some oil then add your Garbanzo bites leaving about 1 inch of space in between each. Cook in the oven for about 25 minutes until they are a nice gold color.
Once your Garbanzo Bean Bites are ready, top with some cilantro and spaghetti sauce for an out of this world flavor! My family loves this recipe, it’s easy for us to prepare then when we are ready for a snack, put them together and toss them in the oven.

Garbanzo Bean Bites
A delicious combination of Crispy and soft bites.
- 1 TBS Minced Garlic
- 2 Cups Breadcrumbs
- 2 Eggs
- 1/4 Cup Cillantro
- 1 Tin S&W Garbanzo Beans
- 1 Onion
- Spaghetti Sauce
Empty water out of beans, add to blender.
Cut up onion, add to blender.
Cut up cilantro, add to blender.
Add 2 eggs, salt, pepper, breadcumbs and garlic to blender and mix up everything on the lowest setting.
Refrigerate for 3 – 6 hours until chilled.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees, remove mixture from the fridge and form meatball sized balls with the mixture.
Spray a baking sheet with cooking oil, add Garbanzo Bean Balls to the baking sheet and cook for 25 minutes until nice and golden.
Garnish with Cilantro and Spaghetti Sauce. Enjoy!
