I have lived in Spokane for just over 5 years now, when I first arrived, the first thing I did was check out some good sightseeing spots, trails and lakes. I love to go hiking with the family, it’s an amazing way to spend some quality time together whilst keeping fit!
If you are visiting Spokane and Couer D Alene, here are 3 Trails I recommend, each accompanied by a beautiful lake!
This is just outside of Spokane, it’s a pretty small lake but you can walk around it which takes about an hour, there are various landmarks to see including the well known bear statues! It’s a lake I love to take my kids to, it doesn’t have too many steep hills or ways for them to get hurt and if you have really young kids you can even bring the stroller along with a comfortable pair of Running Shoes!
Liberty Lake is one of my favorite places to take my kids, they throw on their kids beach sandals and have fun on the sand, in the lake and also fishing from the dock! Liberty Lake also has one of the best hiking trails around, there are lots of hidden places and things to see, including waterfalls. During summer is the best time to visit Liberty Lake as the water is flowing and it’s a beautiful lake with beautiful areas to explore!
Lake Couer D Alene
Lake Couer D Alene is about a 25 minute drive from Spokane but it’s one of the biggest most beautiful lakes in the area. The lake is over 26 miles long with some 135 miles of shoreline!
The main beach stretches for about a mile and the sun is always shining, you’ll need a great pair of sunglasses as you enjoy a fun walk along the beach!
Aside from just having a beach, there are lots of trails, shops, hotels and airplanes to be seen, it’s a beautiful area and the lake is a must see if you ever visit the Inland NW!
